I need to find an apartment by the end of the month, my credit is shot and I need assistance, what can I do?

I was living with my son, now I have to get my own apartment. I was laid off of 2 jobs within a 2-3 yr period which played havoc with my finances and bills.I'm currently employed but I need an apartment that goes according to income.How do I go about locating this information?
