I really need some business advice......?

Me and my husband are self employed. We rent a 10,000 sqft building , part of this building is also rented to another tennat which has since moved out. Since they moved out they had the electricty turned off. Well when they did this it turned off part of our warehouse and a small hall. Here is the kicker we rent this building from my parents, who own the building, and they suggest that we put the electricty in our name that runs the other building. So if some one moves in there we apparently have to pay for their electricty or get it switched back in their name again. So in the end we would pay to switch it then pay again to have it reswitched. Does anyone have a opinion on what we should do. We asked for them to pay to have the building seperated electricty wise so we dont get stuck with someone elses bill, when whoever moves in. They said it was our problem and we have to get it our name. Currently we are without any power in half of our building. Is this really our prob.
